Cause of death still unknown

A week after her body was found outside a Finneytown assisted living center, the cause of Shirley Galvins death has yet to be determined by the Hamilton County Coroners office.

The 78-year-old woman, a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Finneytown, was found dead outside the facility Jan. 23.

Sunrise staffers had been searching for Galvin for hours before her body was discovered. Foul play is not suspected.

Lawrence is still making a living with bouncers

Fifteen years ago today, David "Syd" Lawrence began his run-up on the last day of the third Test between England and New Zealand in Wellington. It was Lawrence’s fifth Test for England in four years and he was desperate to prove that he could cut it at the highest level, despite the discomfort in his left knee that had forced him to consult the team physiotherapist that morning.

After a thorough examination, the physiotherapist had advised the Gloucestershire strike bowler to "play through the pain", but moments before his third over, Jack Russell, Lawrence’s long-time friend and teammate, gently pointed out that the ball was not coming through as fast as normal. "It’s just not hitting my gloves as hard as it usually does," the wicketkeeper said.

Lawrence resolved to go flat-out on his next ball, but as he planted his left foot in his delivery stride, the locomotive force of his 6ft 1in frame proved too much for his weakened kneecap, which split horizontally, emitting a sound like a firecracker.

Stenson lifts title

DUBAI: Henrik Stenson again demonstrated his affection for the European Tour's 'Gulf Swing' by winning the Dubai Desert Classic by one stroke yesterday.

The Dubai-based Swede, who has finished in the top eight in the last six tournaments in the Middle East, overcame gusts of up to 30 kph to shoot a closing 68 for a 19-under-par tally of 269 at the Emirates Golf Club.

Overnight leader Ernie Els (71) struggled to recover from a three-bogey outward half of 37. The three-times champion eventually finished second, despite holing out from a greenside bunker for a birdie at the 14th.

World number one Tiger Woods (69), who had won nine times in his previous 12 starts, was a further stroke back on 271 alongside Swede Niclas Fasth (68).

"I fought hard all week and to beat Ernie by one is awesome," the 30-year-old Stenson told Sky Sports after rolling in an uphill eight-foot birdie putt at the par-five 18th.
